Create Space

A Whidbey Island Retreat June 12-14, 2026

Create Space in Your Life for YOU

Imagine a wide-open field, what does it make you want to do? Frolick Sound of Music style! Imagine your calendar: empty. Ah, what a relief!  Imagine taking off your tight jeans at the end of the day, immediate ease.

We need space. And yet we’re often afraid of it. We jump to fill it with anything and everything. And empty calendar? No, ma’am, let me fill it right up so I can feel productive and worthy and good. Free time at the end of the day? Let me doom scroll for 2 hours instead of sitting with myself.

So let’s step out of our usual environment and into one that invites us to reset, reconnect with ourselves, and live fully.

Space is a vessel. Let it be a vessel for freedom, alignment, creativity, expression, restoration, and ease.

When you create space, you create a path towards living your best life!

Retreat Highlights

Presence

This is your moment to just BE. Witness yourself exist. Drop into your body. With presence (and some speciality exercises and techniques), we can create space in our bodies. Space in our bodies creates ease and freedom of movement. Ease and freedom of movement creates joy and vibrancy! Give a mouse a cookie, ya know?

Community

When we are surrounded by supportive people on the same path, we can be witnessed in a way that isn't possible 1:1. We can learn and grow from collective experience and find perspective we didn't know we needed.

Nature

Nature is a beautiful teacher. She shows us how to take up space, how to rest, how to flow. How to be exactly what you are. We will have lots of nature time on this retreat, not just at the Aldermarsh retreat center, but making our way around the whole island!

Nourishing, Local Cuisine

Madi and Jacob of Conscious Catering met working at one of the most renowned fine-dining vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Seattle and have since fallen in love with the art of mindful eating and the wonderful abundance the PNW has to offer. Every meal will be made with intention and our bodies will thank us!

The Venue:
Aldermarsh Retreat Center and the Beautiful Whidbey Island

Aldermarsh is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit situated on the edge of a beautiful marshland in the Maxwelton Valley at the south end of Whidbey Island. The wooded 5 acre facility is a human-created space integrated within its natural setting where community, collaboration, and sustainability thrive.

Aldermarsh’s mission is to create and hold sacred space for residential retreats and programs that are focused on exploring creative and equitable ways of being in community and learning to live in balance with the natural world. They provide a refuge for community: a place where one can be still and listen to the wisdom of the Earth and reconnect with soul’s calling. Aldermarsh is a safe container for deep work and healing, and the land invites reimmersion into relationship with self and the natural world. Many who have come to Aldermarsh experience a deep personal transformation that alters the course of their life path. Being on the land gives us an opportunity to slow down, listen attentively, and explore what emerges.

What People Are Saying:

Meet Your Retreat Facilitator

Hi! I’m Rachel!

I fell in love with Whidbey Island when I first visited in 2021 and I saw a sandy beach, the most breathtaking view of the Olympic mountains, and a super cute chipmunk leaping across the parking lot!!

Whidbey has always been a place that has helped me slow down, listen, and remember how awesome this planet is, and I want to share that with you.

My passion is helping people reconnect with their bodies because your body is your home and the longest relationship you’ll ever have. And I believe everyone can experience joy in it, through it, with it.

I am a certified personal trainer, mobility specialist, reiki practitioner, and sound healing arts facilitator and I have been guiding mind-body connection for over 15 years and I have absolutely fallen in love with leading retreats.

Made with love, a Mindful Movement and Living retreat is an amazing mix of play, zen, presence, wonder, connection, and intentionality (and don’t forget the good eats!)

I can’t wait to be in community with you and to see what we can create together!

FAQs

Nope! All genders are welcome.

If you are flying in, there is a convenient Whidbey Island shuttle service that you can take from SeaTac or Paine Field! I will coordinate your pick up once you are on the island! If you are driving yourself, you can either take the ferry from Mukilteo or drive down through Deception Pass.

I love creating variations of movements and activities so that everyone can participate fully. Overall, I do not have anything strenuous planned. If you have mobility constraints or if you use a mobility aid, please contact me prior to booking so I can confirm accessibility.

There are 11 rooms available at Aldermarsh that can be shared in a variety of ways.  Rooms are assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Please reach out with your preferences and once your deposit is paid, I will do my best to meet them. As of 1/13/26, room availability is as follows: Owl House, New Cabin 1, New Cabin 2, Moon Room (shared), and Alder Room. Check out all the rooms here. There are 2 additional cabins not listed on this page that are the same size as Spirit and Owl House.

There will be no alcohol or other substances provided or permitted on this retreat to help us all be fully present with ourselves and each other.

Much time, energy, and intention goes into planning retreats. Contracts are signed, and deposits are made to the venue, as well as to the caterer to secure their services. For this reason, no refunds are given. If you are unable to attend the retreat for any reason, I will do my best to find a person to take your place. If I (or you!) am able to find a person to take your place, I will refund you fully minus a 3% transaction fee.

Please email me at [email protected] and I will get all your questions answered! We can email or hop on a Zoom call!
